#WhoKilledElizabethUjuNdubuisi-Chukwu?

Uju Ndubuisi Chukwu was Deputy Director-General of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN). Uju was in South Africa to attend the conference of the African Insurance Organisation (AIO) and was found dead in her hotel room in Johanesburg on 13th. June 2019.

Today we're asking #WhoKilledElizabethUjuNdubuisi-Chukwu?

The night before her body was found, Uju, who was lodged at the Emperor's Palace Hotel & Convention Centre had attended the closing dinner of the AIO Conference. Her colleagues who were with her saw her healthy.

The Emperor's Palace Hotel where she stayed and died is less than 5 Km from the Oliver Tambo Int'l Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, which markets itself as a secure, safe destination for rest, relaxation & major events.

When Uju's body was found on the 13th. of June 2019, the belief initially appeared to be she had suffered a sudden death overnight.

However, on 20th. June 2019, following autopsy, South Africa's Dept. of Home Affairs issued a Death Certificate saying she had died of UnNatural Cause.

The Death Certificate was the 1st. indication that Uju Ndubuisi may indeed have been killed. This was confirmed in a separate document issued by South Africa's Dept of Health on 27th. June, where they confirm that the autopsy revealed she had been strangled.

Essentially, sometime on the night of 12th. -13th. June 2019 last month, someone had entered Uju Ndubuisi's room at this Emperor's Palace Casino, Hotel & Convention Centre and strangled her to death. Surely, you would expect that the hotel would be keen to ask and know who killed Elizabeth Uju Ndubuisi-Chukwu.

Rather than join in finding an answer to the mysterious death of a valued guest/customer, Emperor's Palace Hotel has stalled and stonewalled. The hotel Management is unwilling or unable to provide access to CCTV images and other evidence that may help investigations.

The South African police service were said to have taken up the case, while the hotel was alleged to have prevented the police from having access to its CCTV cameras and other evidence that may help investigations.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, executive chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), said CCTV footage showed no one entered the deceased’s room despite the autopsy report that her death was unnatural.

South African authorities, having received no co-operation from the hotel, are now moving to close their investigations into the question as to who killed Elizabeth Uju Ndubuisi-Chukwu?

Everyday, we get stories of Nigerians resident in South Africa being slaughtered in South Africa.

The story of who killed Uju Ndubuisi is not just another addition to morbid statistics. She traveled for work and was killed in her hotel room. Finding her killers should not be that impossible.

The people who killed Uju Ndubuisi denied her teenage child of a loving mother. Her family lost an invaluable daughter and Nigeria lost a stellar professional in her prime.

@ProfOsinbajo & @MBuhari have a duty to ask @CyrilRamaphosa the simple question ##WhoKilledElizabethUjuNdubuisi-Chukwu?
